Open the rear door as wide as it will go.
Remove xterra rear door panel.
Pry up the panel.

I was able to install the new deck without issue and it works great.
Then pry off the screw cover beneath the door pull and undo the single.

The door opening handle trim is held in by either a screw behind a plastic flap that will pop out behind the lever or it is held in at four points by plastic tabs two on top and two on the bottom that can be undone carefully with a screwdriver or the like.
A first use a plastic trim tool to lift the rear of the arm rest and lift enough to make a small gap as shown in.
Pry the trim off the door release cup with your panel tool.
